Planning an overseas trip is exciting, but it can be tough on your teeth and gums if your routine slips. At South Yarra Family Dental Care, we want your smile to travel as well as your passport by helping you prepare before you go.

Start with a check-up and clean a few weeks before departure so any small issues can be treated before they become painful emergencies overseas. Your dentist can review existing fillings, crowns or root canals and give personalised advice if you wear braces, dentures or a night guard.

Pack a simple travel dental kit: a soft toothbrush with a vented cap, fluoride toothpaste, floss or interdental brushes, sugar-free gum, and a small bottle of alcohol-free mouthwash. If you grind your teeth or wear a retainer, bring a sturdy case and keep it in your hand luggage.

While you are away, brush twice a day, floss once, sip water often and limit sugary snacks and drinks between meals. If you do need urgent care overseas, choose a reputable clinic and keep records to show us when you return. When you get back to South Yarra, book a follow‑up visit so we can check everything and keep your smile healthy for your next adventure.
